Kicking Over the Melting Pot: Five Pākehā artists perspectives, on responsibilities to colonisation in Aotearoa
This was The Girlies Project’s first project together, before we were working under that name I think. Looking back over 20 years later, I’m pleased we made this - there are some cringe elements of course (some of the the ideas behind my own paintings) but also history is important and we were learning in real time.
The few images I’ve found so far are below. I’ll come back later to update, to write about the work we were doing, and the show we made.
The text on the back wall of the exhibition reads ‘everything is not ok’
The gallery is one we created ourselves in an un-used shop on Cuba street in Wellington. The main installation work ‘tricked’ became part of Victoria University of Wellington’s collection.
